Title: Graduate Design Co-ordinator

Salary: £22.5k to £24.5k

Location: Hatfield, Hertfordshire

Hours: 8 to 5, 1 hour lunch break included.

Job Responsibilities

  • To work under the design manager’s direction
  • Assist with flow of information for design development.
  • Collation of fabrication packs for production
  • Recording of minutes in design and production meetings.

Main duties

  • Review received structural engineers’ and architects’ information to ensure all relevant information is available and ready to begin design development process.
  • Under the direction of the design managers, assist in managing the flow of specific design information to subcontract detailers and structural engineers.
  • Respond to queries from subcontract detailers and structural engineers, providing them with relevant information to develop the design for contracted works.
  • Prepare mark ups to request information for subcontract detailers and structural engineers to develop the design for contracted works including raising RFI with LA Metalwork’s document controller.
  • Review and check General Arrangement drawings by subcontracted detailers using QA process as prescribed in our procedure manual for accuracy of information.
  • Review and check fabrication drawings using QA process as prescribed in our procedure manual for accuracy of information.
  • Assist in the preparation of fabrication packs by collating information received from subcontract detailers.
  • Prepare necessary design information, including As Built drawings, technical specifications and relevant testing certificates for the document controller to compile and submit O&M Manuals to client at the end of construction phase.

Financial Controller – Job Description

This person will have full autonomy and responsibility of the finance department reporting directly to the Managing Director. The initial project upon joining will entail setting up and improving the current accounting systems and processes
this may also include supporting the employment of a team member to assist the running of finance department. This role will suit an ambitious individual who is looking to join a fast growing business, is commercially minded and over time could grow into the role of Finance Director.

The ongoing role will involve;

  • Preparation of monthly management reports including full job costing reporting and further analysis to assist the management team
  • Preparation of budget & cash flow forecast and management of business cash flow
  • Ensuring VAT, CIS and other HMRC compliance filings are kept up to date
  • Liaising directly with surveyors at project level and providing financial support
  • Maintain the accounting system with daily finance data
  • Management of the sales and purchases ledger and dealing directly with clients and suppliers
  • Reconciliation of all accounts including bank’s
  • Management of banking including arrangement of payment runs
  • Provide robust financial data to management level and act as finance business partner helping management level make business decisions


  • ACCA, ACA or CIMA qualified or equivalent (qualified by experience also considered)
  • Experience in a similar sized business (£10M+)
  • Detailed knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, job costing and cash flow management
  • Prepare year end annual accounts and liaise with accountants/auditors on preparation of financial statements
  • Experience working within a similar role in the construction industry would be useful although not essential
  • The role may require a candidate to organise an audit in the near future and experience dealing with auditors would be useful
  • Ambitious and self-motivated individual

Salary: £60-70k per annum *Negotiable based on experience
